About Us

We moved to Finland from Alaska in 1975 on behalf of the  Baha´'i Faith .   Although we were young and didn't know much about Finland, we planned to stay when we came.

With us was our daughter Jory, who was then 1½ years old.  Later our son Travis and our daughter Kristi were born.  They are all grown up now and out on their own.  We are the proud grandparents to 3 great little boys, Keemo, Jamie and Matias, ages 5, 3 and 2 years.                              Me with our first litter of aussie pups, 1995

We lived our first years in Finland in a small log cabin on Luonnonmaa Island in Naantali.  Although it was a beautiful place, after we had lived there for 8 years and become Finnish citizens, we decided to move north to Lapland.  The story of how we happened to end up in the tiny Sámi wilderness village of Angeli is a very funny one.

Then, after 19 years in Angeli, we moved once again.  In April of 2002 Todd and I decided to fulfill a life-long dream to live near the sea.  The area where we are now located in Norwegian Lapland is probably the most beautiful place on earth, or so we think!  There is not a day goes by that we do not look around us in wonder. Kåfjord has all the beauty of our beloved Alaska, without BEARS!  But that's another story.....

Todd and I both love nature and wilderness. A person feels so small when surrounded by the forces of nature!  We love to be outdoors doing all kinds of activities – fishing, hiking, berrypicking, beachcombing, working with the dogs, gardening, flying kites, etc.  Nature has always been one of our best teachers, for we believe that things of the spirit are reflected in nature, and vice versa.

We both love young people and Todd teaches at the local school in Olderdalen. I am working on a book…

We raised our first litter of Ausralian Shepherds in 1995 and have usually had one or two litters a year after that.  Our kennel's name, which refers to the Northern Lights,  is Dancing Skies.
